The prefect

Poor Daniel was hauled into detention after school by the Fifth Year prefect after she spotted him breaking school rules by wearing eye shadow.

A prefect is a pupil who has been given limited authority over other pupils in the school. It was an outmoded role, generally associated with public school*, until it was revived during the genderquake to give girls an opportunity to exercise authority from a young age. Prefects were elected by their peers, but only girls ever occupied the role as the candidates had to be members of that year’s pupil council, and boys hardly ever stood for positions of responsibility, let alone actually getting them.

* For U.S. readers, that means a private school – confusingly!

  1. What a lovely drawing. I really like the girl having an authoritarian posture (and "wearing the pants" literally) while the boy stands there demurely with his hands clasped while wearing a nice skirt. Also there are some nice details like the girl is wearing a blazer - like an "armor" - while the boy is "unprotected".

  2. I thought the girls wanted the boys to wear makeup. Confusing... But a nice picture nonetheless.

    1. You're not allowed to wear makeup in school. It's a rule, which the prefect has to uphold.

    1. I understand your resentment to male domninance. I do not support men any more than I support women, and I am intolerant of any men or women who discriminate based on sex. Both genders can be equal in mental and physical strength. Please do not assume that all men view women like this; I do not.
